L’Occitane is deeply committed to reducing waste and promoting recycling, both locally and globally. Our goal is to create a circular economy with the support of innovative partners, multi-brand initiatives, and — most importantly — our consumers. By joining forces, we can tackle plastic pollution at its source more effectively.
That’s why we focus on three pillars: Reduce, Recycle, and React. As of 2025, 81.5% of our total packaging is made from recycled plastic, marking significant progress toward our global goal of using 100% recycled plastic in all our products.

Caring for the planet guides every choice we make. We look at each part of our packaging with the intent to lighten our footprint and offer easier ways to recycle. Today, most of our stores now welcome customers to bring back beauty empties, and we continue to expand our refill and recycling solutions.

Our Shea Butter Ultra Rich Body Cream now comes in an aluminum tin with a plastic insert so you are able to refill your favourite body cream. Our refill uses 28 tons less plastic per year*, so you can enjoy more of the comforting goodness at a better price, with much less impact on the Earth.

Continuing L’OCCITANE’s mission to reduce the use of materials and improve products’ lifespan, we have moved to offer plastic free alternatives by introducing solid soap and shampoo bars.
Made From 95%
Recycled Aluminum
Not only is our best-selling Shea Butter Hand Cream a phenomenon for dry skin sufferers: a super-creamy balm that penetrates quickly to nourish hands, but the tube is also made packaging that is recyclable.
Made From 75% material saved
Since 1980, when Olivier Baussan founded his soap factory in Mane, our soaps have been cauldron-cooked in Haute-Provence using an ancestral saponification process perfected by Provençal master soap makers. Today, this heritage meets a more sustainable approach: our new packaging is made with 75% material saved, with liquid soap bottles inspired by traditional apothecary jars and soaps embossed with Provençal motifs, reflecting timeless craftsmanship and natural efficacy.
We also offer the Forever Bottle, crafted from lightweight, durable, and fully recyclable aluminium, designed to be refilled at boutiques with our Refill Fountains or Eco-Refills, reducing plastic waste by up to 85%. In addition, our 100% rPET products are made from fully recyclable materials, giving plastic a second life and helping cut landfill waste.
